Tim Gillespie leads operations, enablement and technology strategy for The Academy — Bank of America’s award-winning onboarding, education and professional development organization dedicated to the growth and success of all 200,000 teammates across the enterprise.
Tim leads a multifaceted organization that is responsible for managing strategic initiatives, supporting academy operations, deploying cutting-edge immersive learning innovations (VR, iCoach and ACES), delivering vendor excellence, and providing broad support for educational tools and resources.
Prior to this role, Tim led The Academy for Wealth Management, Merrill and the Private Bank, which onboards, educates and upskills 15,000+ teammates annually, preparing them to serve the financial and investment needs of a wide range of clients. In this role, Tim was responsible for onboarding teammates, developing wealth management professionals and driving a client-centric culture. Tim helped launch the Financial Advisor Development Program in 2018 and is Series 3, 7, 9, 10, 24, 31 and 66 licensed.
Tim has been with Bank of America for 14 years, starting with the company in 2008 as a financial advisor. During his tenure, he has served as associate market executive in Washington, D.C., and market executive for the capitol market in Austin, Texas. Tim has also been a visiting lecturer at Columbia University’s master’s in wealth management program, where he lectured on optimal strategies for advising clients and successfully managing client relationships.
Tim graduated from Suffolk University with a degree in political science.
